Edward Hawkes has over 16 years’ investment experience as part of the Sun Capital team. He joined Sun Capital in 2001 and has played a major part in several deals, including the acquisition and financing of Pearl, the follow-on acquisition of Resolution Plc, and the re‐listing of Phoenix Group Plc.

In 2009, Edward co‐led the £500 million reverse of Pearl Group into Liberty and in 2012 sourced and led the £250 million fund raising, debt re‐terming and dividend enhancement of Phoenix.

In 2014, Edward led the acquisition of Keepmoat Group and remains on the main Board. Most recently he co-led the disposal of Keepmoat’s Regeneration division for £330m to Engie and continues to work with the company to deliver its ambitious plans to build over 4,200 homes this year.

Marc Jonas

Marc Jonas co-founded Wellington Pub Company and, later, Punch Group where he played a major part in the financing and integration of acquisitions in his capacity as Property Director.

Marc was Executive Chairman of the leased business, Punch Taverns, prior to its IPO in 2001 and continued to serve as non-executive director until 2004. He also co‐led Sun Capital’s £465 million acquisition of the Center Parcs property portfolio from Deutsche Bank Capital in 2002 and led the €2.2 billion sale and leaseback of Santander’s retail branch network in 2007.

Marc served as Chairman of Pearl Group’s Assets/Liabilities Investment Management Committee up until the IPO.

More recently, Marc oversaw the €1.3 billion bond refinancing of Uro Property Holdings and led Carnegie’s latest development of a new private secondary school in Oxford.

Edward started his career at Bain & Company before joining Punch Taverns as Group Commercial Director in 1998.

At Punch Edward was one of 6 executive directors who helped grow Punch from 1,500 pubs to almost 7,000 pubs and was responsible for the renegotiation of supply contracts and significant cost savings (c£50 million pa). Similarly at Pearl Group Edward led the £486 million Business Process Outsourcing deal with Tata Consultancy Services in 2005 as well as the overhead and cost reduction programme when Pearl acquired Resolution in 2007.

Edward co‐led the acquisition of CenterParcs in 2002 for £465 million and sale to Blackstone in 2006. In 2009, Edward sourced and co‐led the £500 million reverse of Pearl Group into Liberty, a €600 million cash shell.

Most recently Edward co‐founded SCM Capital Partners and Auctus Industries.

Edward is also an investor/founder in a number of smaller companies.

Matthew is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has been the Director of a range of companies, including PizzaExpress Plc (1993 ‐ 2002)

Matthew co–founded Pearl Group and Punch Group, and acted as Pension Trustee of Punch’s pension scheme.

Matthew founded and was Chairman of Integrated Dental Holdings Plc and as Chairman of First Quench, was responsible for its sale to Nomura for £240 million.

Stephen Farrugia joined the Sun Capital team in 2003 following four years experience in corporate finance. He has worked on a number of transactions including the acquisition, financing and listing of Pearl Group, where he served as a Director of Pearl Group Services, and the €2.2 billion sale and leaseback of Santander’s retail branch network in 2007.

Most recently Stephen co-led the €1.3 billion bond refinancing of Uro Property Holdings, where he also served on the main Board during the corporate and financial restructuring of the company.

In 1993 Hugh co‐led the £18 million acquisition and market listing of PizzaExpress. During the seven years he remained on the Board, PizzaExpress became the UK’s largest and most successful sit-down casual dining group and the value of the company increased more than twenty‐fold. Over this period, annual losses of £0.5 million were turned into profits of £38 million.

In 1997 Hugh co‐founded Punch Group and, as Executive Chairman, he orchestrated the acquisition and integration of the Allied Domecq Retail estate, the Bass leased estate and Inn Business to create the UK’s largest pub group. Punch Group was floated in 2002 with an enterprise value of £3.5 billion.

Hugh co‐founded Pearl Group in 2005. Pearl was acquired for £1.1 billion from Henderson Plc and embedded value was subsequently grown to £2.3 billion. Resolution Plc was acquired in December 2007, and the enlarged group floated in September 2009. Now renamed Phoenix Group, it has an enterprise value of approximately £3 billion.

Most recently Hugh led the acquisition of Strada where he is now Chairman.

Jamie joined Sun Capital in August 2010. Prior to joining Sun Capital, Jamie worked as a portfolio manager at Ignis Asset Management.

Jamie graduated from The University of Cambridge with an MA in Geography and Management Studies. Jamie also holds an Msc in Real Estate Investment and Finance from the University of Reading.

Jamie is also a qualified Chartered Surveyor.

Jack joined Sun Capital in May 2017. Prior to joining Sun Capital, Jack worked at Barclays as an Associate in the European Leveraged Finance team. Previously he worked at Citi in the Mergers and Acquisitions team.

Jack graduated from Durham University with a BA in Business & Finance.

Previously, Gurj worked for Blick Rothenberg. Prior to this, he worked for Cooper Parry.

Gurj is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has a BSc in Accounting and Finance from Birmingham University.
